Friday, April 28th, 2017 at The National Hellenic Museum
Ceremony: 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Reception: 6:30 – 9 p.m.

Keynote Speaker Owen Daniel-McCarter
Daniel-McCarter is the Executive Director of the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance, Founding Collective member of the Transformative Justice Law Project, Co-Founder of the Translating Identity Conference, and former Legal Director of TransLife Center. A transgender attorney, educator, and advocate, Owen works for gender inclusivity in schools, LGBT affirming curriculum, bullying prevention, and restorative school discipline practices. We are excited to invite Daniel-McCarter to UIC for the 11th Annual Lavender Graduation ceremony.

Lavender Graduation is a unique convocation ceremony that honors the academic achievements of UIC’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, intersex + students and their allies. The event is open to students from every college at UIC. Students throughout the years have testified that the prospect of walking in “Lav Grad” motivates them through tough times with juggling classwork and other obligations. In addition to several other programs we offer, Lavender Graduation supports the attraction, retention and successful graduation of many LGBTQA students each year.

The graduate and guest registration links are now available! Please register yourself and your guests today, and pass the links on to others.
