Trans* @ UIC
The GSC is committed to supporting students, staff, faculty, alumni, and other individuals of all gender identities and expressions. We understand that gender identity and expression can be complex, unique and evolving depending on the individual. Moreover, we recognize that gender identity and expression function as one component of an individual’s multiple intersecting identities.
UIC’s nondiscrimination policy explicitly includes protections to individuals with respect to “gender identity.” We at the GSC, seek to address the needs of individuals of all gender identities and expressions to ensure they feel able to be the most successful they can be at UIC.
We ask that you contact us if you experience anything at UIC that is not in agreement with the nondiscrimination policy. We hope to connect you with the most appropriate, competent, and sensitive resources available in addition to ensuring better experiences for individuals in the immediate future.
WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
The Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) launched a new fund in spring 2015 to support UIC students who identify as trans*, transgender, and/or gender non-conforming. Because we recognize some LGBTQ+ students encounter multiple financial barriers while completing their degree, this fund provides emergency financial assistance to support successful completion of their UIC education. Current UIC students who identify as trans*, transgender, and/or gender non-conforming may apply to receive a one time “scholarship” for emergency use.
To make an online donation to this fund please visit the University of Illinois Foundation website.
1) Under the Chicago Campus Funds, click “More Funds”
